no GSM version yet. Just CDMA (for verizon and others)
so no SIM cards, no use over there...
no announced time table on a GSM version. The phone forums seem to indicate that one might come... I have no information to support those rumors though

I really need a blackberry that works there but anything that can do (enterprise) email would work
Vodafone has an 8707v which is 3G IP so we could stick a tmobile or cingular sim into it after unlocking it, but then here it wont have gprs/edge.
So Im thinking some kind of 3G phone that we could hook up to RPC over HTTP or windows mobile activesync. But it has to be english so Im not sure what they've got over in Japan as far as that goes. So, I figured a Q...oh well.

If you go to Japan you really only have 1 option....
Rent a phone from Docomo, US technology is not the same.
Cingular now sells laptop cards that will work there, but no phones yet.
if you have Cingular you can use your SIM in the Docomo phone, otherwise you need to rent the phone and pay Docomo for service.

rent a phone is relatively cheap in NRT airport in Tokyo($8/day),International roaming from US
carrier is just way too expensive
the only Japanese carrier allows you to use your own 3G/GSM Phone is Softbank,but you have to use their SIM card.
