so its 2:00 and im driving home from work...
and i have been working since 5 this morning. I was showing some of the transport drivers how to get back to the thruway from our shop. state trooper pulls me over for "license plate lights are out." like that's why he pulled me over im sure there was something else he could figure out. i told him i was going home from work and i had been working since 5. ends up making me sit in the car for 20+ minutes and give me a ticket for inspection being out of date. If he had just told me the inspection was out i would have dropped the car off the next day but no he had to be a dick about it.
When are police going to back off and stop being a hindrance to the public and start protecting and serving again. its become to the point when i see one driving i turn around to see if hes going to pull me over for some made up reason.

dude i get pulled over in my truck for the same thing.
that's just and excuse to pull you over and everyone knows it and the inspection expired in january and i NEVER drive this car (driving my truck) so i never noticed. its the simplist mistake.
oh and the guy that made the illegal turn thru a red light and almost hit us is fine.
Go find drunk people and leave a working kid alone.

5th, if they were out, thats legit, mine were working, and cop tells me they were illegal aftermarke
t bulbs, made me sit for 20 minutes while talking to another cop that pulled up behind him, then gives me a written warning-
said the plate was dirty and not visible from 60' away, not that you can read a brand new plate from 60' away, and told me i had to clean it-
thats probably closer to being a dick if anything, but i guess because of the new law that plate has to be visible from 60' away, its "legitimate"...
so i wont complain

sympathy because you work, like most of the other people in america?
you made a mistake, as you even admitted to it, so you pay the fine, end of story
sure, i agree they find 'reasons' to pull you over late at night so that they can make sure you aren't drinking and driving or smoking/under any other substances, which in their case is keeping roads 'safe'
should they have a better way of doing it versus tellig you that your car touched the yellow line? definitely. can we do much about it? not really.

well look at it this way... you would have otherwise not noticed you had expired inspection. The
ticket points it out to you and that "reminder" came with a prce tag.
I agree its a simple thing and an easy ticket to avoid by paying attention.
No one likes getting pulled and getting hosed. Let it go and move on.
