Default I hate Audi's CPO warranty

I have CPO coverage on my car. I have never made a claim against it (usually just had KMD replace anything that went wrong). Back in mid-November, I had an appointment at KMD for coilover adjustment/alignment and something else that I can't remember now. Danny pointed out that my cam tensioner gasket was starting to leak and that while it didn't need to be replaced immediately, it should be soon. So the car continues to get driven, and there is a distinct burning oil smell. Now my dad uses the car while I'm at school, and he picks up the insurance/fuel/maintenence costs that occur while he's using it, and I pick up the above when I'm using it. So we both agreed that there was a strong oil smell coming from the car, and that the gasket needed to be fixed (this was late December).

He suggested we see if the Audi CPO warranty would cover it. He called the service department, explained that my car isn't stock, explained that a trustworthy independent repair shop had said that this was leaking, and the Audi service department concured that it would be covered under CPO. Just to make sure, my dad brought the car to the service dept and had them look (last week), and lo and behold, they claim its not leaking. The excuses they gave were infuriating (there's a pool of oil on the framerail, they claim the radiant heat from the engine is make it burn, causing the smell; the oil filter was leaking (yet I never lost a substantial amount of oil, and the smell overlaps an oil change interval)).

Its like, why the hell am I going to pay extra for a warranty when they won't fvcking cover anything? I fail to see why I need to fight for warranty coverage. I've never used the CPO yet, and we just wanted to save some money by actually taking advantage of it. All my dealings with the CPO warranty have been negative, and I truly think if I buy another used Audi, I'm foregoing the warranty.

Default Blame the dealer, not the warranty...

Find a better dealer..

I had an issue on my prior car that required major mechanical work... The third dealer I complained to finally did something about it and offered competent service.. It was covered under CPO... I began complaining about the problem while it was still on the original warranty..

Default For the record....dealer's LOVE doing warranty work because it pays more.

Dealer's still get paid for the work, even if it's not by you. If your car is CPO, Audi pays the bill. That's what I was always told. This sounds like a case of bad diagnosis. If I were a dealer these days, I'd be trying to get as many jobs as I could! Seems like they're either noobs or lazy.

Default Its a service-insurance policy and not a great one..

as it is limited and its subject to dealer interpretation.

Rule 1..

don't volunteer about your mods, you are setting yourself up for issues.

2.
Just tell them there is a leak, and if you looked its location. Tell them you have been adding oil..1 quart ever 2K or so.

3. go to a different dealer.

Default All the dealerships I have worked at warranty pays less.

I can assure you warranty time from Audi is less than book time. I do not know what Audi pays as an hourly rate, as it varies from dealer to dealer.

Default not entirely true...

if the dealer warrenty cost is high they will refrain from doing high doller warrenty work like this one until they go through all the steps involved...if your cam tensioner is leaking the procedure is to replaced the valve cover gasket first, add oil dye and wait until they can identify the leak coming from the cam tensioner. then procede to do the tensioner seal and gasket. its a real easy job to do, but the warrenty time you get paid is huge. it takes and hour but you get six. if you were to do to many of them in a month you risk getting audited by vwag.

Default In response to #1, I volunteered my mods because I didn't want to waste my time or money

In the past, I've brought the car in, only to find out that so and so repair isn't covered because of an unrelated mod. I tell them what it is, and if they say, yeah, we're going to deny the repair because of this, then fine, I won't pay the $50 for them to take the car in and then tell me they won't repair it.

And sadly ****ty service has been replicated by several area dealers. I've yet to find one who actually cares
