Ticketed for 88 in a 55, asked to see the Radar Detector and he said no
Should I protest the ticket or is he allowed to not show me the radar gun if I ask to see it? I've done the same before and just been issued a warning, although different state.

What state? Why bother asking to see it? You were guilty of speeding
There is a huge difference between going 88MPH and going 55MPH. You knew you were going more than 55MPH...more than 65MPH even, so clearly you deserved the ticket. Why ask to see the radar gun? Can he say no? I guess so. Because he's an officer, in the eyes of the law, he is generally viewed as honest and credible and perhaps does not have to show his radar.

Hmm..I've always been told that I was clocked on radar and shown it..
They usually have locked it in and show it to you if you ask, and chances are you were accelerating/cruising and not slowing down, this is in MD though..

They don't have to show you anything in virginia, in fact, they don't even have to tell you what they are charging you with until they present the ticket. I would say if you have a good record, just let it go, but if you can't take the points, go to court, say you don't believe you were going that fast, and that you asked the officer to see the radar gun and he declined. This will not necessarily assure you a win, but will possibly get it reduced to failure to obey a highway sign since the burdon of proof is on the state. (Can you tell I've been pulled over alot?)

there is "technically" no such thing as reckless in MD
they dont actually call it reckless just give you a 5 point violation if the offense is bad enough.
