Default Just did the little vacuum exhaust mod with Ben; also did runs with Ben prior w/ intake

Found out Ben's S4 doesn't have the BS vacuum feature that was talked about so much when the s4s were first coming out...and I honestly wondered why his s4 was extremely raspy low end.

That's all the flap mod does is make it raspier down low in my opinion. No difference in sound inside, but I bet it's more amazing outside. My intake drowns any sound difference inside the cabin anyway.

Ok, now for the fun part. Ben and I have had at least 10-15 runs against each other low and high end while he is only at 1k. The outcome is that my car pulls, not sure if it's because of the intake or it being more fully loosened up because of break-in or what..but I pull. Once down low I pulled after he got the jump, so it's confirmed that my car definitely pulls. It's not that significant at all, but maybe a tenth on a 1/4 mile.

I'm interested to see what the difference will be now with the vacuum line plugged. He doesn't have the vacuum feature, so if I pull harder now, it'll show that it really was restricting flow.

AND BEFORE you guys give me **** about not just getting the miltek full-back, I'm fighting a couple of tickets, the 110+ and a BS carpool violation off of an onramp with the cop hiding out (yes, I'm guilty, so what?? the cars in my lane were going too slow ), so I'm waiting to see what happens with those.

Cheers.

Default <yawn...> so.....when are you getting the full setup?

:-D

I was having a hard time following your point about the lack of vacuum flaps. You said that your car pulled harder, and that it represented the fact that your flaps made the car faster? And therefore the lack of flaps was more restrictive?

I always thought the flaps were open at low rpms to allow for longer travel of air and hence less rasp. When closed, it forces air right out of the muffler and hence more rasp, and more flow.

But regardless, the flapless system should be faster, no? Even if there is no flap, I don't think that they are allowing the system to recirculate as is the FLAP design, but rather just bypasses the flap and going straight out the muffler? We need AoA to chime in on this...AoA??

"Yes. We have heard nothing of this flapless design. It must not exist."

Thanks AoA, we knew we could count on you. ;-)

Default Not sure about the design, but regardless, I figure the flapless system is faster

Anyway, miltek fullback all the way!

Default Not worth it right now. Would have been worth it before the 110+ ticket though...

Thanks for the sponsor. I appreciate it!

Ben himself has gotten out of TOO many tickets with the 11-99 plate.

Default Question for all: to plug or not to plug?

I disconnected the flap and tested the car several times with the hose plugged with a screw as well as with the hose left open and tucked above (no kinks). I found it sounds and feels better with it unplugged, but can't be absolutely sure. Any thoughts?

Default I thought it sounded better connected vs. not-connected.

But I did plug them when I put the Milltek on.
