Stress Crack in Winshield......

Stress Crack in Winshield......
Yesterday I walked into my garage and looked at my window. There was a 6 inch long crack starting from the drivers side pillar into the middle fo the window. The night before there was no sign of damage at all, and keep in mind my car is always in a garage so nothing could ahve fallen on it. I was woundering if any of you have had similar problems? I contacted my dealer and they said they would investigate it and if it is a stress crack they may do the replacement under warranty. Any responses would be helpful.

the glass on these cars is sooo brittle it wouldnt suprise me...
at one point I was thinking about replacing all the glass with pre-tinted (the real stuff) glass all around. Get better glass and get the tinting done all at once, but the bill was to much for now. It wouldnt surpise me at all if the glass just did that.

seems pretty common
I got one on my passenger side, but it was actually from a chip. The problem is that the edge of the glass is under so much pressure that slight impact near an a-pillar would cause it to crack. Whereas if you got hit in the middle, it's not as big of a risk.
But, I have heard of stress cracks happening, especially on the B6 platform cars.

had mine replaced becasue of a very tiny rock chip...
if there is no impact mark from any object than it will get replaced under warranty. if they can find the smallest chip, you'll be paying out of pocket.

I do have a tiny pebble nick ont he other side of my window I am not sure if they are gona give me crap about that but it seems so far away it cant be related. I hope it is covered under warranty. Glad to knwo Ia m nto the only one with thsi problem
