Someone posted that they raced an SRT4 a while back and since I have both vehicles, I thought I'd put in my 2 cents. SRT4's are great little cars, and fun once boosting, but they would get killed off the line by an S4. They would stay even on a roll from 30-90, and then the S4 would pull away. The SRT4 is easily modified for not much money and can go quick in a line, but, while nimble, has scary handling in stock form compared to the S4, plus the roof deflects when traversing bumps due to the flimsy structure. Many an S4 will likely be surprised by these cars, especially modded (265 whp for $800),so don't underestimate them...check out the board-some serious gear heads...<ul><li><a href="http://www.srtforums.com">http://www.srtforums.com</a</li></ul>

 

Wow.. I still can't believe a Neon is this fast. When they first came out, they were a complete joke

 

power to weight ratio.... thats all i gotta say....

 

The Neon's 1000 lbs lighter(2850)than the S4. No mufflers in stock trim, so it sounds the part without Folgers tips...

ALL Audis are pudgy fockers and seem to be packing on more lbs. every year, they don't get it.

 

they are very, very safe cars. can't say the same for an EVO or SRT4

 

versus a best of 1:50 in my S8. Weight is a killer; and BTW, I wasn't driving :-(

 

I was cruising with my brother and a friend of his on the interstate. Next thing I know I hear this "psssht...pssht..." cound coming from my left. I look over and I see this guy in a Neon SRT, blue, boosting his turbo and releasing the pressure so I can here, obviously wanting me to know that he's not the average Neon and he wants a go.

I shake my head, and throw four fingers at him to make sure he realizes that it's the FOURTH of July, and the cops are everywhere. He looks at me and shakes his hand, and points ahead.

I know what he was saying, there's a stretch of road coming up where no cops can hide. Sure...

So he keeps boosting his turbo and releasing the air. It's obvious that he has some kind of blow-off valve on the car. The car is definitely modded.

So we get to the stretch of road and he takes off. I did nothing at first, waiting for him to slow back down. When he does, I take off...just to make sure that he knows what he's getting into.

He comes back up, gives me the thumbs up, and counts down from 3. Then we are off. From 60-90 I was walking, but he didn't quite clear my rear bumper. That was all over when I shifted into 4th.

I let 4th ring out a bit just to make sure that he got the picture, and then slowed down.

He came back up and slowed down pretty hard, then looks at me and gives me the "again" signal. I shake my head, show him the 4 fingers, and say NO WAY. He gives me a shake, a thumbs up, and he's off.

Made my day. And to make it even better, I just found out today that I have a HUGE air leak on the hose that leads to the intake manifold. 3 in tear in the vacuum hose. It was throwing a CEL and causing a lean trim condition. No big deal, but definitely not getting the air and power that it should be. Basically, moral of the story, I could be going faster. ;-) Car will be ready on Monday. :-/
