so a friend wants me to go on a roadtrip to kansas with him
to visit his family, he figured it would be fun and I agree
i live in oregon, so this is a bit of a haul
searched the forum last night and aside from checking tire pressure and fluid levels (as far as the car is concerned), it's good to go
Chipping, which was mentioned, has given me some pause though. Currently I have no bra on my car, and I really dont want to do a 4000 mile roadtrip only to look at the front end of my car after a long trip and see its taken more abuse than a virgin on prom night.
Is this a valid concern or am I just being anally retentive about my car? Any experiences people can relate to me or advice would be much appreciated.

My bro just did a cross country from Valhalla, NY to Bay Area Cali with no major scarring...
He has a black B5 S4. In the B6s, I know they now use environmentally friendly water-based paint, so that may make our paint more succeptible to chips.
I think you should be okay... painters tape and what not is overkill in my opinion. Just avoid huge semis and other cars in general. Plus, I find that driving 80 mph and higher makes for worse rock chips when you do get them.
