Downpipe Install Today...
Are you doing the install? Make sure you have an o2 wrench, it's absolutely key. Otherwise, getting the pre-cat o2's in are going to be a bitch.
Good luck, and let us know how you like 'em!
As far as I know, a good extended socket wrench, an o2 adapter, and some mechanic gloves are key. The exhaust manifold is going to be HOT HOT HOT if you drive anywhere anytime before the install.
Other than pushing the hanging bracket in the upward position, I can't think of anything else. Just take your time and be patient.
Also, once your done with the install, take it for a ride for about 20 minutes. Get the exhaust nice and hot. Then, let it cool for about 30 minutes and get in there with your socket wrench and tighten those manifold bolts on the DP flange. I'd go ahead and tighten the o2's one more time too just to be sure. This way, you can set all the bolts after they have expanded due to the heat.
It really isn't that difficult. They are accessible from the rear of the engine bay. On the left and right side of the intake hoses and block. get a light, and look down. (remove the plastic covers) You should see the holes right in the downpipes.
ALSO: One more tip: Take your finger and with a rag run along the inside of all of the o2 holes. There is some weld-dust that sits in the holes and can make threading them a bitch. I'd recommend pre-threadingj just to make sure that they fit properly.
