Default One more splash guard question...

Spoke with my dealer this AM - in fact he can get the F/R guards, part #s 8E0075111 and 101, which his book says are for the ">2002 A4" so he was reluctant to order them. I understand those parts will fit both the B6 A4 AND S4 cars - for those who have had them installed, is this the case? He's ordering them and he agreed to try them to ensure they'll fit on a S4 in stock before installing on my car. Are these the right part #'s for the B6 S4? I don't want to damage my clearcoat in any way during install. And yes, I understand the rear wheels do need to be removed to install the guards properly. The fronts can be turned to accomodate the wrench.

I should have my car by this coming weekend!

Phil

Default Yes, the mud guards are the same for both B6 A4 and S4

And no, you don't need to remove the rear wheels, although the instructions show that you do.

On a second thought, my car was on the lift getting the exhaust installed with the wheels off the ground, so that might be the reason the tech didn't need to take the wheels off to install the mud flaps... He just worked in the wheelwell with a torx socket.

Default That was my understanding also...

I'll let my service people know - I'd like to avoid them mucking around with the new wheels anyway! Thanks!!

Default I had to remove my rear wheels because

the pre formed holes in the splash guards did not align themselves with the fasteners in the fenderwell . NOT even close. Solution was to make 2 new holes in the rubber guards. No big deal. WORD OF ADVICE!!! Instructions call for putting a hole in the rear body panel to help hold the guard. DON"T DO IT!!!. It is totally unnecessary, and you realy don't want a hole put in the body of the car. Guards are perfectly fine without this fastener.

Default Mine didn't line up either

The tech had to really push the mud guard into the wheelwell for them to line up. It took some stretching, but he did it. Audi sure designed them to sit tight on there...

Default gack! custom color w/ splash guards??? get clear bra behind the wheels!

splash/mud guards are for trucks! :P sorry, i'm a bit opinionated on this one... i had small trimmed pieces of 3m behind the wheels, which accomplished the same thing, and i didn't look like an off-road vehicle... ;-)

Default They're not that bad looking...

I think the mud guards aren't too bad, since they're barely noticable. Some people even opt for the paintable ones, so the color blends in nicely (not an issue for me, since my S4 is Moro).

Also, the function of a mud guard is slightly different that the clear bra. I'd rather keep things from hitting the body rather than letting them hit but preventing chips. Mud will still look bad over the clear bar...

Default I considered the looks...

but had them on my Santorin B5 and really liked the protection they provided. The fact that it's a custom color is all the more reason to get it - so I won't be tempted to repaint when chips happen, not only behind the wheels, but up on the front and rear quarter panels. Being in PA means nasty roads and lots of sand/cinders/salt in the winter - it's worth it to me to have them done. Plus the darker Northern Blue should not clash much with the guards.

Default I've seen them, and politely disagree.

To each his own, and it's obviously your car... But, when I see them on such an expensive classy sedan, it makes my stomach turn... :-\
