Default Mudflaps - What's the final verdict?

After a search I found that some of the other models boards say they are a nightmare and remove paint. My dealer only has the black, non-paintable type. Is there a paintable, and do they really ruin the paint underneath?

Default I want some with a chrome outline of a naked lady on them.

Seriously, I had a set on my old B5 S4 and yes they do trash the paint right under where they mount on the car. Dirt (and plenty of it) works its way between the paint job and the splash guards and as the parts flex, it grinds the paint through time.

The effects are not subtle. I have not installed them on my new car and don't intend to. Get a ood application of a clearbra material alon the rocker panels instead.

Default You can paint them. Just be sure to bake them a good long time to remove the oils first.

I've had mine for a couple months now and they are flawless (look better on silver too, as they don't disrupt the lines of the car). Just my opinion of course. See my pic poster.

If you look at the picture they really don't stand out but sort of blend with the tires and wheelwells. The installation of splashguards is the first thing I do with EVERY car I have. Not because I like the look, but I want the protection.
