Default Yet one more Clear Bra post

I should be picking up my S4 by the weekend. I've been reading many pros/cons (yes, checked STFA)about having Clear Bra installed - I had a B5 Santorin car without it - and yes there were some front end chips, but not excessive. Plus I did lots of highway driving with that car. This car will be used as a weekend, fair weather car - no snow, gravel, and likely only some highway driving (no commuting). I'd love to leave the car untouched - and for that reason have opted to leave off the splash guards (thanks to Leslie's observations). Based on my driving habits, is Clear Bra really needed? I'm getting northern blue (close to Dolphin in appearance), and obviously want to keep the car looking great. Don't give me opinions based on your driving style - base them on mine. If I do opt for install, who does it in Philly area?

Thanks!!

Phil G.

Default Well Pa is brutal on cars no matter how you drive it.....

Even though my car is a daily driver, it still only has 7K miles on it since october. I decided clear bra wasnt worth it. Yes I have some minor stone chips, and one 130MPH+ Stone that caused a big chip/dent in the hood(dont think clear bra would have stoped it) and would rather spend the money on a front end repaint 2 years into ownership. I just dont like the appearence of the clear bras. In the end its a personal decision you ask people to base it on your needs, but without standing in your shoes none of us will be able to give you a very good answer.

Default Like you, I had a Santorin B5 (still love that color) and my front end looked sandblasted

but that was after 5 years. Also like you, this is a weekend car for me, but the big difference is that 75% to 85% of my annual miles will be done between Thanksgiving and the end of March driving to ski resorts in the NE, usually in crappy (but good) weather. For this reason, I felt as though I had no choice but to put the bra on, especially with a dark color like Moro. With Northern Blue, you get a positive for each side. You probably won't see the rock chips as bad, but the bra should be less visible as well. This being my first clearbra, I must say that I'm quite impressed and would recommend it for anyone in this area who is **** about their car. For as much as I clean my car, I just can't stand looking at chips and nicks all the time. hope that helps

I hear ya. It pretty much sucks either way. I would never repaint just the front end though either

Default After you've driven it a while it may not remain your weekend car. It's sooo much fun to drive.

I've just finished a Minnesota winter virtually unscathed, and I too don't like the looks of the clear bra.

Default Porsche 993 is a weekend car only as well, but still glad I installed a Clear Bra

WSestern PA roads just too gravel-loaded.

I had the car for about 2 years before I installed the Clear Bra (actually, Invisishield), and got several scratches/gouges on the front bumper area before installation. Been on the car for prob. 6 years and 50K+ miles since I installed it, has really protected the nose.

'98.5 Audi A4 go one installed soon after purchase. Nose still looks great after 85K miles.

Oh yeah - both cars needed new windshields due to rock damage. Porsche windshield again is badly sandblasted and could prob. need another replacement.
