Buy 05 S4 now, wait for facelift or buy something else?
I am in the market for a new car and looked at the S4 and I find it to be a very good compromise of sport, comfort and practicality. I am just concerned by the fact that I read that the A4/S4 are supposed to get a facelift very shortly and honestly, I would hate buying a new 45-50K car and see it outdated a couple of months later.
Do you guys know when the "new" A4/S4 is supposed to arrive on our shores?
What else in that price range have you considered? (used or new).
Thanks,
Wassup
Cars aren't really like consumer electronics or computers in that you'll get twice as much new functionality for what you paid for the old model. The current S4 is awesome and still will be after the new ones comes out. The current styling will age quicker than usual since the new Audi family has the gaping grill however.
If you get a real kick out of new car design attention, like when the TT first came out, then wait. To me it's not that important, which is why I ordered a 2005, due to arrive next month. I might hold onto this one until the B8 design comes out in 5 or six years. Or whatever grabs me then, who knows.
if so wouldn't then the 2005's s4 be greatly discounted?
i know that when i go down to pick my car up in october and haggle with the price, i will bring this to their attention. ALthough i am not gonna be happy with the b7's driving around...
I've also been told that the order sheet for this car will become available in early/mid Nov., I've got an allocation slot reserved at another dealer, who also reiterated what Audi of Park Ave told me. Too bad Audi of Park Ave won't budge on full MSRP...
As far as credibility goes, around March, Audi of Park Ave had a A8L W12 6.0 prominently on display, on a turntable... it may be hard to believe, I wish I had cam phone... can you NYC'er's who've seen the car at the dealer vouch for me
? (I think it was northern blue w/ 19" RS6-like wheels or something)

Bringing Audi to Life for Audi Fans

I've decided to wait until 2/05, the time I've been told by semi-creible sources when the redesign comes to the US.
Other cars I've considered (some cars that are/are not comparable to the S4)...
-upcoming SLK350
-E46 M3
-FX45, can be bought at fire sale prices around the NYC metro area
-BMW 545i, if it didn't have a cheap interior
So if Audi doesn't want to lose market share they had better improve their quality, and increase the HP of the A4 to at least 280 to keep pace with their competition from Japan.
