Default Thoughts on repainting in different color??

Anyone ever done an entire repaint to any of their cars in a different color? I'm thinking about changing to silver (currently Moro Blue).

I imagine some will say it is a waste of money and devaluing at resale. But I've decided I can't afford to sell my car and replace it with a new one. So if I'm going to keep it I want to at least be happy with the color.

I'm thinking about after this coming winter. I would do it at an Audi certified shop, so I suspect it will cost some $$$$.

Thanks for any input.

Getting the entire car painted is going to cost like 8g's.

Default Major pitting @5K & getting nowhere with Audi re. repaint

So I want to return to lower maintenance color. E.g. our '01 atlas grey allroad has been through three nasty upstate NY winters and looks pristine/new. My S4 looked ragged at 5K and I didn't even drive it much last winter.

Default Wet sand the entire car to a show car finish and re-clearcoat

Start with 800-1000 and work up to 2000-5000 paper, it will take time and a good polish to finish. in some cases might not even need recoating the clearcoat. Finish can be gotten to almost a mirror finish like a show car no orange peel. Have seen it on a few daily drivers in Charlotte and there is a good shop in town that can do it. Was going to do it on my black Volvo before I decided to go with the S4. Cost $800-2000.

Kills the value of the car, not exactly what you need to be doing to an already shot resale value

Default Wow. That is good information. I don't know if I have the gonads to try it.

Tempting. Hmmm. Your right about that being a ton of work! I'd I think am going to have to look into this more. I sure would love a mirror finish! Thanks NFS4!
