Default Some answers/clarifications regarding DBW:

S4MadMan: Your fix addresses a different issue than mine, though most people on this forum DO believe the car doesn't always accelerate properly at full throttle. My fix may also address your issue though--I'm not sure yet. Here is a summary of what mine does:

First, understand that our car has two basic throttle programs. Program (b) is active when the car is stopped or when the clutch pedal is depressed. This is a mostly unfiltered, linear program. As soon as the car starts rolling AND the clutch pedal is released, the car switches to program (a). This program is smoothed, filtered, delayed, and generally undesirable.

My relay replaces the sensor that tells the car the clutch pedal is "home" (not depressed). This relay is a simple on/off switch that automatically turns it self off and on indefinitely. I have it set up so that the car thinks the clutch pedal is depressed all of the time, thus giving me the much more desirable map (b) all of the time. The only downside is that you cannot use cruise control while the relay is active.

I have left the aforementioned clutch "home" sensor in its place; it's just not plugged any more. This is a very non-invasive mod, and when I'm done I will have a simple toggle switch that activates my "sport" mode.

I will post some pics/do a more complete write-up by the end of the day (hopefully). I just wanted you all to know that this really does work, and a little about how it works in the meantime!

Default Does your cruise control still work?

Cruise is supposed to cut out when the clutch is depressed. Sounds like you may have killed it.

Default wondering how to relate this information to my TIP???

any thoughts? obviously no clutch, but the map program still exists... and still has the same effect on my car. which drives me crazy.

Default Honestly, this is very interesting stuff for all DBW Audis...

I've been wanting to disconnect my clutch sensor in my 2000 A4 so I can start the car without depressing the clutch, but I'm fairly certain this will also result in loss of cruise control. (FWIW, my reason for wanting to start the car w/o the clutch is because getting in and depressing the clutch with snowboard gear on to warm up the car after a day of riding is about the biggest complaint I have w/ my Audi.)

I wonder what other things I might notice related to clutch programming with the sensor tripped, i.e. car thinks the clutch is in. Probably nothing, but when you have a relay mod write up, I might try it out.

Default Is it really a relay?

Or are your just connecting the leads all the time, or keeping them open, depending on how the switch works? Why do you need relay for a sensor switch?

Default Re: the clutch sensor that I modified is not the same one that prohibits no-clutch starts.

There are two. I will cover this in my write-up.

Default That's a tough one.

The clutch pedal is what activates the switch between the two maps on manuals. I don't know what, if anything, trips the "good" map on Tiptronic. If you are rolling and shift into neutral, can you rev the engine accurately or is there a big (0.4 seconds) delay?
