Default Suspension Upgrade

I just bought an S4 Avant (2004) and would like a little additional shock dampening. Not being familiar with what's available for the S4 could someone make any recommendations. Thanks!

Default There is not much out. . . Most have gone with KW Variant 3 because it is one of the only kits

available. . You can search the forum archives for more info on suspension upgrades. . .

Default KW & STaSIS thats about it.....

and its really not needed. Do your self a favor, take it to the track and you wont wanna do anything but reduce a little of the body roll.

Default Suggestion, ...

STFA on suspension upgrades,

and read bout the recent exploits on track and feedback.

search AlanL

Machtig

& even me.

Most have all agreed that stocks suspension is worth leaving alone.

however, Strat is developing springs, so keep your eye's peeled and you never know.

give it time. after 4K my car is acting more broken in and much much much faster than at 500 miles.

just my .02

congrats and welcome.

Default Another agreed. I took the car to VIR this past weekend...

and the car handled amazingly. Arguably one of the quickest cars on the track that day. AWD, amazingly neutral for such a (nose?) heavy car.

Freakin' AMAZING. Please, take it to the track and explore the limits safely before you throw down on the coilovers.

Default Nope - use throttle control to load the suspension. I am not a roll bar advocate.

I used one on my old B5 S4, but ultimately tossed it once I realized that I was causing more harm than good for street driving. The loss of independence in the rear suspension means that surface irregularities are more likely to impact both rear wheels instead of just the one that hit the bump. That means you are losing the potential traction of the other rear tire just when you need it the most.

Potentially useful on the track to an extent, but overall not really as good as learning to manage the suspension with smooth and almost continuous throttle inputs instead.

Default Save your money - suspension upgrade isn't needed

The car in stock form performs admirably at the track. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket get a set of track rubber and some wheels if you do enough track events.

Even compared to my B5 S4 with Stasis Track Sport, the B6 handles better out of the box.
