Yes!! 84 in 65 ticket reduced to parking violation w/$75 fine

Went to court humble, told judge about my 160 mile daily commute, that I don't typically speed, was late (11pm) and just wanted to get home.

He said he'd looked up my record and since it was ok he'd change the charge.

5 points and major $$ saved. Definitely worth 1.5 hours.

I got my 71 in 55 laser ticket reduced to 69 in 55 (doesn't go on the record in GA if it's less than 15 over the limit), but the friendly city of Suwanee court still levied the full fine - $170!!! They gots to pay for those expensive laser guns somehow... now we'll see how they work against the LE-30 dual!

Is 65 a freeway?

If so then you'd probably not even be pulled over (our limit is 70 but no one gets pulled for anything up to 80).

Even if you were pulled you'd only get a £60 fine and 3 points (they accumulate to 12 then you lose your license for a while).

I've only be done once and I had to go to court. I was caught at 117.8mph. This resulted in a £250 fine and a 25 day ban. Everyone I know though I got off extremely lightly!

I was definitely lucky. Mine was laser also. Judge was cool, though he was harder on others

It's a toll road called the New York Thruway. In the U.S. each state sets their speed limits. Some have up to 75mph on open highways, but most are 55, 65 or 70.

I remember going across the Mojave and seeing the signs about "patrolled by aircraft"

I thought this was just a way to encourage people to behave but with the distances involved we decided to ignore them. We had the cruise set to 100mph for about an hour without any problems. :-)

Re: they really do patrol with aircraft, you just need to be alert and watch for a plane circling,

CHP will have one plane, and about 8 ground units waiting to pull over multiple victims - in both directions. The plane will run 2-4 mile circles up and down the highway staying about 1/4 off the road and at about 4k feet. If you see a plane making turns over the highway slow down.
