Hope this isn't a repost, but I just read the recent SpeedZones test
Let me start out by saying I'm a huge fan of the V1 (own three of them), and I also own a 8500 (non X5). I much prefer the V1's to the 8500.
I was reading Criag Peterson latest test today on radartest.com. I've never trusted a thing this guy has ever said on his site. You can clearly tell in this test he goes out of his way to pick on little cosmetic things on the V1 to do anything possible to put it down.
I've have put more trust behind the Speedzones tests, and until their latest test they have on their site they always picked the V1 over the 8500, but now that the X50 is out and there latest test. It looks like the X50 is a nice piece of work. I think the information is Speedzones is a lot more reliable. Anyway... pretty impressed with the X50, and it's a good read. Either will do the job just fine. Anyone who says 1 "ownz" the other...
is just being plain biased. The V1 has built fans with the arrows and great performance. The new X50 has great range and now picks up POP mode. Any given feature set may be the deciding factor for you personally, but the reality is that either is going to do the job just fine. You can't go wrong. Given that, I went with the X50 for $100 less, but if I already had a V1 I wouldn't switch.

Well said! Lot of haters here like to bash the other.
I find the people doing the bashing of the product they don't have usually have never owned the product they are bashing so their opinion is worthless in my eyes.
I see the same thing with Sirius vs XM. I have happen to have two Sirius subscriptions and I'm happy with my choice. When people ask for opinion I tell them they can't go wrong with either one. Sat radio in general rocks!
Anyways... I thought the Speedzones test was a good read and props out to the X50 (from a hardcore V1 owner).
