Default Accidently took the car above red line this morning.

I came off an exit ramp in 3rd and punched it as soon as I got the straight. A glance down at the instruments revealed 100MPH and somewhere between 7200 - 7500 rpms. I hope the car is ok. I didn't realize that I was going that fast or reving that high.

Default How many miles on it? Besides, it won't hurt, since it has a rev limiter.

This car likes to be driven.

When I was at Brainerd International raceway, the instructor left the car in 4th on the straightaway when he was driving it, and I think the rev limiter, kept the car down to 130MPH.

I asked him about and he said "No big deal,, that's what it's supposed to do."

Redline is at 7,300 and fuel pump cuts off at 7,000 so you'll be ok

Default Dont worry about it.... the car can take it. If the car has a new engine sustaining high rpm's....

isnt the best thing. I dont agree with the drive it like you stole it off the lot but brining it into its upper register of RPM's wont hurt. If the car has less then 1k miles on it I wouldnt suggest doing that on a regular basis.

Default The computer has a rev limiter for the engine. Unless you over-rev mechanically...

from downshifting into to low of a gear and it causing the engine to over-rev you have nothing to worry about.

You could put the car in gear, and stand on the throttle and wait... the computer would hold the engine at max revs--no problem.

No worries.

Default Fuel pump cuts off? Thought ignition cuts off

At least that's how it was in my previous cars. I'd think that cutting off the fuel would cause the car to lag for an unnecessarily long time while the pump reactivated and cause other pre-det dangers.

Also, at that high of an engine speed, you'll likely have full boost going into the cylinders. Wouldn't this cause a sudden jump in engine temps if the fuel is cut off?
