One more newb question: is this a good deal on a "used" 04 S4
The local Audi dealer has a silver 04 S4, with pretty much every option save the XM radio, tip, and Nav. Here's where it gets questionable -- the car is a buyback. It has 1300 miles on it, is certified with an extended warranty. CarFax shows a clear title, and nothing pops up on it. The dealer says the car was a buyback "because it wouldn't go into reverse" and the problem has since been addressed with a new tranny. I really could care less about the history of this car, but what I am considered about is the price. Without haggling he said he would let it go for 45K.
I checked KBB and a similarly optioned "new" 04 S4 invoices at 45K. Now what I am wondering is whether or not this is a "deal". If I can get a new S4 at invoice, f that, I'm going hunting for another dealer. Otherwise, if they go for sticker, then this seems like a bargain.
Any thoughts?

Do people get these cars at invoice?
I'm going to call a few more dealers in the Am and see what they are offering for new S4s.
So again is this a going market price?

The problem is that this is not a "new" car, so invoice does not apply.
I think 42-43K (about 2K under invoice) seems fair. In the end it all depends on the other factors. I guess I care less what the cost of the car is versus, what I end up paying

A dealer**** games...

You shouldn't have much trouble finding a new S4 at invoice, so I'd probably knock a few grand off for the car being used.
Something else to consider. New S4s with manual tranny's are subject to the gas guzzler tax, which doesn't apply to used cars. IIRC, the tax on the S4 is $1300, so that should be another savings.....
