Good bye 2001 Red S4 Hello 2004 Dolphin Grey

Finally bit the bullet today and got my 2004. I still have about 1000 miles left on my 2001 S4 so I will use them all. I kept going back and forth between an M3 and the S4 but the functionality and the price of the S4 won out in the end ($48k vs $55k). I think I am going to replace the entire exhaust cats and all. The one question I have is about the radio ... mine came with XM but I want Sirrius (already have an account with them and they have the NFL ... I spend a lot of time going to both the Ravens and the Eagles games). Is it possible to change these out and if so where do I buy the Sirrus? Also if anyone know someone who is looking to buy a 2001 Giac X chip for a 2001 please have them email me.

My recommendation is not to touch it unless you want a visible antenna. My car came with the XM and after I installed the new indash and a couple of subs, I wanted to change it to sirius. I replaced the receiver and the antenna inside the little "space ship" on top of the car and it didnt work well at all. It continuously cut out and failed to recieve a broadcast. I eventually took the antenna out of the casing and put it behind, and since then it has been perfect. However, the antenna is visible behind the casing, but I think it is worth it to have Sirius over XM.

thanks ... I will talk to my buddy who owns a audio sound company in the philly area and see if he can do it. I also got the silver with alcantera. I loved the contrast of the black and grey. how is your alcantara holding up? that was my only concern

I've had the car for about three months, and have about 4,000 miles, the alcatara is perfect! there are a few wrinkles on the passanger side on the leather, but i think that is because the installer was a very large man, and leaned on that seat a little much. But otherwise, its perfect. I love the contrast as well, and I also felt it was the sportiest colors we could buy...

If you keep the stock deck, swapping to sirius is a trivial matter.

just get the sirius reciever/tuner or whatever you want to call it and swap it out in the trunk. you can get the sirius tuner from clairparts, but your dealer should be able swap xm reciever for sirius at no charge if you request it. if you haven't signed any papers yet, tell the salesman that you don't want XM. stress it.
