350Z. Needless to say I was reluctant to romp my car with only 47 miles on it, but I have heard nothing but bad things happening if you break them in like a sissy, like oil consumption issues. I figure the best way to break a car in is to break it in like you plan on using it.
What does everyone else think about my philosphy?

Default i would say there are people that agree with it

and others that disagree with it.

Not that it makes a difference anyway...you've already decided on your method of break in.

Default Negative, not properly breaking in your engine components

is a bad, bad, bad, thing to do......

500 miles minimum below 4000 rpm's, you will probably have more oil issue's by beating it in....

but hey its your beater, do what you want with it.....

And a 350Z is hardly a challenge for you.....

Default Drive it like you stole it

But make sure that the car is warmed up COMPLETELY before you do

Default Well I really only plan to drive it for 35-50K miles, by the time a hard break in will matter......

it should be long out of my hands. And I figure I spent all that money on the car and $10000+ on aftermarket goodies, I am going to get every waking moment of owning this car to be an enjoyment. With all that being said, if I am wrong, **** it.

Default WRONG-- you need to do some research on how to "break in " these

newer engines. My advice would be do not go over 4K RPMs until the car is properly warmed up meaning the temp guage should be pointing straight up. Miles on the car makes NO difference!

Default LOL!

Yeah, over the first 50K miles, the worst that will happen is you'll need to add oil to keep up with consumption. So how far back did you leave the 350?

Default Break it in hard, but don't beat it or over do it!

WOT at or near redline are OK, BUT NO MULTIPLE WOTS. It is best to let the engine decellerate on its own after the WOT. Worse thing is driving at constant RPM.
