LA to Vegas in........

Well I took my first extended drive in the S4 this weekend. This car is just unbelievable. It pulled so nice on the open highway. Was challenged by a few well intended but unprepared vehicles. Lincoln LS8, Chrysler 300 hemi, Nissan 350Z and about 5 desperate Honda's. Man, what fun, I don't think I'll be flying to Vegas anymore!

NO! Fly to vegas, or take another car.

You get SO MANY rockchips driving out to Vegas from LA.

Haha, trust me..that philosophy doesn't work! Actually, on certain highways in CA

such as the 24 in Norcal, if you hit over 110mph with nobody in front of you, somehow you get all kinds of rocks, hitting your windshield. It's very odd, but I've seen it happen more than once.

i almost veered into a ditch from one of those!

I was driving down an on-ramp when a rock (about an inch square) came flying off of a dump truck in front of me. I saw the piece coming straight at me in my peripheral vision (reminded me of playing paintball and seeing the paintball coming at you) and i swerved to avoid it. Unfortunately i was not quick enough and that sucker nailed me (at least i did the lift-turn-squeeze that bondurant taught me so the car stayed under control

)

The damage was negligible (two tiny spots that would only bother an Obsessive-compulsive detailer like myself) so i never called it in. Anything short of replacing the windshield that i could use to fill the tiny chips?

I agree... I was doing 130+ on I-880S last night in a run in w/ an M3 and I felt heard "ticking"...

sounds that sounded like either bugs of little gravel hitting my car. I slowed down to avoid pushing my luck, asking for bigger chips. I haven't gotten a chance to look at the car yet, but hopefully there are no chips. This car is too darned fast!!! The M3 downshifted first, so he leaped ahead, but as we got faster I was pulling on him pretty hard and let off the gas for fear of CHP and rock chips... haha man, I wish 100+ tickets weren't that expensive or 2 pts.
