2005 S4 6MT- Really that good?

Been asking around on B6 A4 board but figure might as well also look into the big boy. Need information on real world driving. Daily metro-city and winding country roads. Extreme weather driving too. Picks also appreciated.

What about against the M3 6-speed?

I drive in downtown San Francisco every day during the week and through rural pasture lands on the way to the coast on the weekends and (in the short 2 weeks I've had it) it sets a perfect balance. My brother lives down in Carlsbad and has a 04 M3 SMG which is great if you are going up the moutain to Palomar but not so much downtown with the potholes and city drivers. The third day after I picked it up we were rained on pretty hard and it was rock solid even when pushed.
