Default Instrumentation

Sure would be nice to know what our oil pressure, oil temp and charging system is doing. Finally hit 1000 miles and I have been gradually running harder (as it should be driven). Being an old gear head, I'm just use to being able to check basic funtions. Additional analog or digital gauges would be nice...

Default The car will continually "get faster" until about 3-5K on the odo

but now that you've cleared teh 1000 mark,

honestly, Rev it, enjoy it and drive it, that's what it's there for!

Default I wouldn't worry about the oil temp. Things get HOT. ;-)

But as long as you are using a quality oil you should be good to go. (Go synthetic)

It's interesting to note that the car's coolant temperature never changes when I'm on the track. Stays straight up! ;-)

Default Only concerned on the warm up

Going fast is no problem over here. I'd like to know when the oil is up to operating temp (along with the coolent temp) which as you know arn't the same. Hard to make sure with only a 6 mile drive to work. Outside temp has been in the 20's all week. Thanks goodness for Autobahns!

Default about 5 to 10 minutes depending on outside temp

I used to love the oil temp gauge on my 98 A4. The coolant comes up way faster than oil. I think you can say 5 minutes running mildly thru the gears in summer, 10 minutes in winter and 7 or so in spring /fall (40/50 degrees) as a guideline.

Default If you use your VAGCOM and monitor the temp you will notice that

for the first 1/4 of the gauge the accuracy is within a degree after that, the engine temp varies by about 10 degrees (celcius as I am in Canada) while the needle stays in the dead center.

Default Upgrade on guages

As soon as someone develops a professional, integrated, stock looking 3 gauage system I'm sure several of us would be interested. Snowed last night and the LM-25's are doing great. Thanks for the replies.
