since tires have been a hot topic
I can't afford to get performance tires for summer, winter tires for winter, track tires for track.
What's the best ( i know it's not that great) but with the choices I have, for an all-season tire? thanks

I've been with the Conti-Sports in the snow before and they are not bad. Going over ..
.. Rt88 from Stockton to south lake tahoe or carson city I've been through many a snow storm and have cruised without problem over the pass, but that was with an A4 not a S4. Not sure that would make too much difference. Stay away from S-03's as they become bricks in the cold.

Well if you plan on tracking them....
Your going to need at least 2 sets. M+S and Some high Performance Tire. Also track tires only last a couple events so expect to go through them quickly. Hell wes's track tires are pretty much toast after 3 days. Tires are the one place not to skimp. Spend your money on good tires before you spend it on mods. If you cant sustain the power band due to crappy tires with crappy traction whats the point in having that extra power.

If you run any other tire than a dedicated track tire at the track, your going to burn ...
the shoulders pretty quick. And some states may fail your state inspection for rounded off tires. You'll have plenty of center tread, you'll just wear away at the shoulder blocks. Since most of our street tires can get us through a couple of years of driving, it's better to have a dedicated track tire.
Nevertheless, if you do decide to use the same tire for the street and track, your going to want to run a bit high on the pressure to try and save that shoulder.
