Got my dealer to use synthetic on 04.
They initially said it was not necessary on 04 models. 05 and 04 engines are the same...so I approached it from a different angle. Looked at the specs in manual... ACEA etc.. Then researched oil. The only ones that meet that spec (as you all know) is synth and then again only some of them.
I explained this to my service guy (he is THE best I have ever had by the way (Joe at Capilano Audi)) He phoned the local Audi rep and he said that if it's in the manual do what the client requests. I had already done first service (with dino), so they drained and replaced the filter and filled with Castrol Syntec 5w-40 that meets VW 5XX and ACEA 3(Showed me the bottles first). Sweet. I'm happy now. Of all the car dealers I have ever dealt with... Capilano Audi (in North Vancouver, BC, Canada) is by far the best (not just based on this incident). highly recommended.

Really??? How do you compare it Clarkdale and Richmond??? I live in Vancouver. I am not liking Richmond too much.. I've been in for easy fix problems which they said it would take 1 hour. I ended up sitting at the dealership for 2.5 hours both times... So I'm not too pleased.

Richmond doesn't return half my calls or emails... I like Clarkdale better but don't like their method of selling. Clarkdales parts guys are great for getting VW/Audi tools etc... they will sell them to you which is very cool. Otherwise for parts Kevin (Dr. Clark) at Cap is THE best...good prices.. tell him Jeremiah sent you. Joe is the best tech, when you book, book through Aaron and request Joe as a tech, and for sales ask for Karin, she is organising Audi rallys next year.
