Default Splash Guards (Mud Flaps) - options/info?

I am looking to equip my dolphin avant and wanted to know:

1. Are there multiple manufacturers?
2. If so, is one recommended over another
3. Can they be removed easily (possibly for summer)
4. Where can they be purchased / ordered?

I am planning to do it myself, as I do not want to be bothered by a dealer.

Thanks

Default Original Audi Parts

I went with the ones made for our cars. Easy to install and made to fit.

Need to pull the wheels of to get at mounting. Put a good coat of wax on the paint where they mount. I think they look great on an Avant.

Default are these specifically for the S4?

I already went to 2 dealerships, and each time was told there are mud flaps for the B6 A4, but not S4

Default There are two Audi options...

Paintable and non-paintable. My S4 is Moro, so I got the non-paintable, and they look fine. I don't see the point in removing them; the issue is that there will probably be some wear marks on the paint where dirt gets between the body and the mud flap.

They are the same for the S4 and the A4; you really have to stretch the rear one, though, to use the mounting holes in the flap. Others have drilled new holes to get them to fit.

You also supposedly have to take the wheel off to mount the rears; all you really need to do is jack the car up in the air (use a floor jack, not the piece of crap jack in the trunk) and use a torx bit on a ratchet handle.

They look good, and I'm sure they keep the bodywork much cleaner. I'll probably go with the non-paintable type.

Thanks, TCM

Default There aren't any paintable mud flaps for B6 that I know of.

I tried to have a non-paintable set painted with pretty bad results - they are labeled "non-paintable" for a reason...

A few people here had theirs painted with better luck than me - the key was "baking" the flaps to get all of the release agent evaporated from the rubber.
