Got my new S4, parting with the old S4. Sound system question?
I just got my new S4 about a month ago. It's great! The purr of the V8 is sweet although it's very thirsty. I'm sad to let the old S4 go. It was an awesome vehicle also. I was considering something more reliable like the Acura TL/RL but it didn't have AWD and a V8. It did have an AWESOME sound system and Nav. The sound is unbelievable. I can't say the same for the Audi Bose w/XM. The XM sounds worse than an 8-track tape. It just sounds plain, flat and not a lot of highs or lows or even mid (especially on XM). Has anyone done upgrades to the sound system?

Yep-- XM is these cars sucks IMO
The sound quality is terrible. Needless to say, I will not be subsribing after the 3 month free promotional period. By the way, the RL may not be a V8, but it does have AWD and puts out about 300 Hp... no manual transmission though.

The sound system is weird...
It's very bassy, which can make it sound a bit muddled on a lot of things. I have the treble maxed out on most sources and even have the bass reduced below center for tape (since that's where I plug in my IPod).
As for satellite, I too was surprised, but not quite to the level you are describing. With Sirius, some stations are a little better than FM and some are definitely bad, like AM quality, with very little high frequency response. I find that the talk and entertainment stations sound the worst, while the music stations seem to generally be a little better than FM, or at least on par. In general, when I crank up a song that I really like on Sirius, it sounds better than if I did that with a song on an FM station.
I'm looking to replace the majority of the sound system; I'm waiting until after CES though to see what new head units come out.
