Dealership told me that I'm not in the VIN range for belt tensioner TSB, that the whine is normal

Is this true? I thought that several people out of the VIN range had problems. Advice? My dealer had never heard of the TSB before I brought it to their attention.

Tell them you don't give a fvck whether it is in the range or not.

It is NOT normal and you want the Tsb done. If they still won't do it, go elsewhere!

My advice from now on is going to be call AoA or submit a complaint throug the AudiUSA site. . .

They seem to be very responsive and will even call your dealership and initiate resolution.

Exactly Right

Dealers *love* warranty/TSB work. They get paid a fortune to do it by AOA. However, if they fear AOA won't pay, then they won't do the work. Therefore, getting AOA to approve TSB work outside of the target VIN is the key.

At which point Audi may refuse to pay...

If the VIN is out of range, AoA may not reimburse them for the repair, so if AoA doesn't pay, the dealer has to eat the cost.
