If I have a nice coat of wax on it, I dont use soap because it takes wax off. If there isnt caked on dirt, just use water and a little hand pressure with soft wet rags (I use diaper rags because no lint and no harsh threads to scratch paint). I guess if you have to take old dirt out of the paint, then car wash soap is fine and then just apply light coat of wax. They make a lazy spray on wax I use inbetween full details. I love http://www.automagic.biz/ and no I dont endorse it or anything; just love the products.

Default Meguiars car wash, California water blade,& the absorber synthetic chamois

I tried the Mr Clean system and although the wash solution and the filtered water are good, the wash and filters are relatively expensive. The system only works well above 75 degrees, and I can't wait for the car to self dry.

Default Are you crazy? If you don't use soap, you are grinding the dirt into your clearcoat.

I know you said you have a good coat of wax, but todays modern carwashes will not remove your wax. If you think that is the case? you need to use some other type of wax/polish thet actually IS resistant to car wash. Audi's paint is very prone to swirl marks!

Default IMO, Zaino Z-7 is the best wash soap; waffle weave towels are the best for drying (or a leaf blower)

Another nice wash soap is P21S car shampoo.

You can search the detailing forum for more information on these questions, too.
