compression and octane and timing ......
I came accross this scientific article.
Here is what octane the motor should run for optimal performance.
7:1 .......... 89 octane
8:1 .......... 91 octane
9:1 .......... 94 Octane
10:1 ......... 98 Octane
11:1 ......... 104 octane
12:1 ......... 110 octane
13:1 ......... 115 octane
Our S4's are 10.5:1, so at least 98 Octane for best results.
The new RS4 and FSI motors in general are going to be 12.5:1 compression ratios....
damn, 110 Octane....
Timing must be considerably retarded on 91 huh....
What is our 'normal' timing for the S4 ?
How many degrees ? 30 ?
What kind of timing adjustments can Revo, GIAC and APR do to help effeciency, mileage and possible HP gains.
Also, anyone running 'flashed' ecu's and using The Outlaw or Nos or any other OTC octane booster ?
kj
It is a bitchin color and I probably wouldn't mind it.
it'll be interesting to see what allocations of colors the dealers get.
Anyway, good luck getting a dealer allocated color that is not black or grey, during the first batch ;-)
