For the "pros" of you who go to the track, what should I be looking for when buying a helmet?
I spend one day last weekend where there were 3 20 minute run sessions during the day when I wasn't in someone's car or my own. That's a lot of hours worth of wearing a helmet. Thankfully mine fits.....
1. Get a SA2000 Snell rated helmet (most race shops sell the SA (Special Application) designation as opposed to motorcycle helmets.
2. Spend $200 - $300 on a closed-face helmet. that will buy you a good helmet
3. Visit OG Racing, Safe Racer, Helmet City or an on-line seller. Most offer charts to help you measure your head for the right helmet.
4. Buy a protective case/bag. If the helmet is dropped, it's considered ruined so take good care of it.
The new Snell designations for the 2005 helmets come out later this year. Buy inexpensive now, see how you like it, then when the new helmets come out, you can think about upgrading.

I can get you in touch with somebody that can get you a deal on the helmet. Let me know.
