CEL came on again today
went straight to the dealer and my service advisor comes back with the same report from about 3 weeks ago when this first happened: cats throwing a code. Car is an '04 with Miltek CB. He's ordering a replacement cat - which further reinforces my belief, btw, that if you take care of your service advisor, s/he will take care of you.
He mentioned that another guy came in with an '04 with 12k on the clock, miltek exhaust and same problem. This guy had his exhaust welded to the cat, so they can't do anything for him in terms of a warranty repair. But I am now officially concerned that at least 4 Miltek equipped cars are throwing this code. Anyone contacted Stratmosphere about this? I bought my car preowned with the exhaust already installed so I'm probably not a priority, but I'm debating picking up the phone soon.

I was mildly worried before
but then I saw this thread and really started worrying. The light came on today and I knew it was the same thing. Brooklyn- do you have catback only? Catback can't cause a CEL. So, we don't get calls on CELs for catback installs. Keep in mind there are a boatload of codes that are represented by a CEL. I was about to write the same thing. An aftermarket cat-back WILL NOT damage factory cats...
What effect could a slight reduction in downstream restriction have on a cat? The only thing I can think of is a couple degree temperature reduction due to decreased backpressure.

Which would be good for the cats!! Problem is, cats are too close to the motor, even stockers are
burning up.

I'll dig up my receipt and post the code, but yes, I only have the cat-back system which was already installed when I purchased the car. I'll give you a call once the dealer replaces the part and can give me more info on what they've seen in there. I'm definitely hoping it's not linked to the exhaust as I really do like the sound from the miltek.
