GIAC flash - 93 Octane 'pump-gas' version?
91 (pump) / 100 (racing): this is the one that was used in the Dyno shootouts.
and..... drum roll:
93/103. This must be a new version. It was dubbed "High output" for cars with DP's.... He initially downloaded this version (since I have DP's), but before he went to install it he saw a dire text warning along the lines of, "93 means 93, not 92, and don't mix... your engine can be damaged if you use anything but 93 or higher with this program...."
So, since I drove in with a full tank of non-oxygenated 92, and since all the dyno info had been shown with the 'original 91 program, I had him download and flash that one instead.
Now, MN does offer 93 octane gas, but i understand it uses 10% 110 octane ethanol to achieve the 93....
So:
1) any of you heard of you are running the '93-version' of GIAC flashware?
2) Since I bought 'the whole 9 yards.' the dealer has offered to reflash the 93 program if I decide I want it. ...
So I wonder what would be better to:
a) run the 'tried and true' 91 program with non-oxy 92 b) going for the 'high output' 93 with the knowledge that the fuel will be more oxygenated than in option a).
I also have calls into AWE and GIAC, to get some perspective, but I would love to hear your thoughts.
