Default B5 was a very good looking car all around...same with B6, sweet...can't say the same for...

B7, which is truly an interim re-do before the next ground up redesign.

B5 - totally new design 1996
B6 - totally new design 2002
B7 - a moderate tweaking, and not a very good one at that.

This is per styling only, as the B7 performance upgrade is significant.

JMO.

Default Have to agree with you there. Not sure why Audi even had to do the...

...B7 restyling. They should have kept the B6 styling through the life of the platform that both it and the B7 share. It makes no sense to me to do some minor restyling then give the car a completely new model designation. As far as the performamce upgrades, Audi could have dropped the new FSI motor in the same B6 platform without the need for a model designation change. They did the same thing in the 2.8 B5 A4 when they switched from the 12v to the 30v motor yet the kept the B5 description.

I honestly love the styling of the B5 and the B6 and for the life of me I am trying to grow to like the B7 but it just isn't happening for me.

Default Wait a minute. The B7 is NOT really a new model designation. If you look at your VIN, it's still

an 8E. I agree that the tail lights on the B6 are better looking than those on the B7.

Default Hmmm. I wasn't aware that they kept same model designation for the B7.

I have to say, I do not mean any offense towards the styling of the B7, it just makes no sense to me that Audi would release the restyled body on a platform that was only 4 years in the running. It kind of sucks for the people who purchased a B6 just to have the body obsoleted by a simple restyling that smacks more of a marketing move than an actual model upgrade. As if depreciation on Audis isn't bad enough already :-/
