M1 5W-40 - can't find it anywhere.
For those not in the know, I'm referring to Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5W-40 Synthetic. It was formerly known as Mobil Delvac 1 and used to cost around $8/qt back when it was only used in high end diesel engines with long OCI's.
It works great in everything made by audi that starts with an S, and even better if it's got a turbo. By great I mean the used oil analysis numbers come back awesome.
And.. unlike other Mobil 1 synthetics, it's actually got real Ester based stocks in it, 25% of it to be exact.
Sounds great. Cept. I can't find it. Anywhere. Every Wal-Mart I visited doesn't even have a shelf tag for it. And the best I can find it for online is $6.50 a quart PLUS shipping. Argh.
So much for that $19.88 5qt jug deal at Evil-Mart. I shoulda bought the whole damn pallet. And I would have, if I knew it was going to become unavailable.

M1 0W-40 is a little on the thin side.
M1 5W-40 is waaaay different, in much more than the weight. If I was going to do 10k mile change intervals, this would be the oil I'd use.
Changing it out every 5k- it probably doesn't matter. My commute has the oil fully warmed up every trip.
Still, it's peace of mind, and it was also cheap! It used to be cheaper than normal Mobil 1 until it's recent dissapearance.
