Default Melbourne Audi Dealers

Hi all. I'm new to this forum and to Audi's. Have to get rid of my current ride and get a new one. Was considering Sube Sti and 1.8 TQ S-line. Somehow build quality and interior of japanese cars don't seem to be as high as that of the european cars, so I'm leaning towards the Audi even though I like the performance of the Sti.

Can anyone please help with the following q's:

1.Is any Audi dealer in Melbourne better than the others in terms of service and competitiveness?
2. For those of you who are into modding their cars, did you wait until the warranty expired? I'm not looking at extensively modifying the car during the warranty period.

Thanking you in advance.

Thanks. Went into Elsternwick but not overly impressed with service - found it a bit underwhelming actually.

I bought my A4 Turbo Quattro through Adrian at Doncaster Audi Centre. The dealership is a little smaller than others but I am pretty happy with the level of service and deal that I got.

BTW I too was trying to decide between an STi and a Turbo Quattro. They are two totally different cars and it really depends on exactly what your priorities are. The STi is obviosly more powerful and a better car for the weekend racer.. The Audi is a little softer but is a great mix of power, comfort and luxury (one thing the Sube doesn't have!). Obviously I ended up going with the B6 Audi instead..

Good luck with your decision and if you end up seeing Adrian at Doncaster tell him that Alister with the white B6 A4TQ sent you!

Thanks Alister. I'll try to organise a test drive of the quattro. I like the performance and the seemingly abundance of japanese tuners and parts suppliers available locally as opposed to the few around for the european cars but at the end of the day comfort, luxury and, dare I say it, - 'class' is important to me as well. I currently drive a 3-series BMW which has both performance and luxury so I'm tending towards a compromise in the 1.8TQ rather than outright performance.

I've heard Penfold are good. Chip the TQ for about $1500 it's undetecatable and give you about 30 kws. S-Line are vv nice - u get sports suspension nice subtle body kit and nice 17" rims and great build quality? If you are keen down the track you can get more power as well. why would you want a rex especially after a 3 series. I think you'd kick urself later...

I know what you are saying re the 'class' thing. The Sube is a bit of a 'boy racer' type car and sometimes you don't want that stigma everytime you jump behind the wheel.

FYI with the turbos there is nothing stopping you from using Jap parts on an Audi. Obviously things like front mount intercoolers might be another story though.. Boost controllers and aftermarket computers (especially 'piggy back' types) can obviously be used fairly universally.

I have seen a few modified B5 and B6 turbos around though so either they are using custom parts or there is off-the-shelf solutions.

hey guys, would like to say that i went to doncaster on someones recommendation which is cool they obviously had a good experience but i gotta say i was totally disappointed. I think i have been spoilt by the Brisbane people, they knew of all of my mods and were very accomodating not once charging me for anything outside of the norm. I ask the guys at doncaster for a quick check of engine mounts and anthing stock Audi that may contribute to a vibration i have under load and they hit me with a $100 bill (which they supposedly redueced from $200 for me) saying they couldn't find anything. They also charged me for the loan car that i am supposed to get for free as part of the Audi Corporate deal I got. And i didn't find out any of this until i picked up the car.

so, I definitely have been spoilt by Audi Centre Brisbane and maybe i shoulda realised there would be a bill, maybe they coulda called me with a qoute, how the hell they spent 2 hours checking engine mounts i don't know.

anyway nuff said, think i will be looking for someone else to do the remainder of my free servicing then the car will be off to Euroclass for its regular checkups.

regards and good luck.
