how much KW?
can anyone give me a rough estimate of how much kilowatt i may be running (at the engine or flywheel)...?
Just a rough idea would be good :O)
Also when you got your FMIC on did you notice alot of difference in power? coz mine is at the workshop right now getting done now so im yet to feel the difference.
My car is also running 1.3 bar boost and im guessing that it is a normal thing with a Giac chip? I was a bit worried that i was running way to much boost...
Yes - Quattro drive train loss is around 35% (conservatively) - so 35% of 125 is approx. 42kw - or around 165kw at the fly.
"Also when you got your FMIC on did you notice alot of difference in power? "
YES - You will notice power delivery is MUCH smoother and much more linear and that you dont heat soak any more - BIG difference.
"My car is also running 1.3 bar boost and im guessing that it is a normal thing with a Giac chip? "
Yes - thats fine. I peak at 1.4bar of boost with my GIAC chip and thats normal.
Enjoy - its a great set-up and if you havent yet upgraded your clutch - DO SO!
And an oil cooler is a good idea before your stock heat exchanger goes south......
This is an off forum conversation.....lets leave it at that.
"Puzzled as to why you still do not have it on, you didn't blow the turbo did you?"
No - it was a-ok when i took it off and i sold it.
and yes im having a new clutch put on at the same time as my FMIC :O)
Well it sounds like i have a pretty sweet set up which i hopefully shall be impressed with when i pick my car up...
Oh and how much is a new oil cooler?

It is all reletive however - reletive basically to a: your commitment to getting what you want and b: your wallets capacity to meet the needs of a.
My car is quick enough to blow off most things on the road (exlcuding the big KW HSV's, STI's and other souped up Jap imports [and as I discovered the other day im not quick enough to play with BMW's X5 with the M5 engine - 4.6L thing I think], handles amazingly and just blitz's everything in the wet. :-)
RE: The KO4.. and for the record to save me emailing this to other ppl.
At the end of the day I decided that I had spent enough on the car and that i was happy with the performance and reliability and handling and looks. If I was going to go for more power than the KO4 it was going to be a LOT more money - a **** load more for a full rebuild with internal stronger parts, after market tuning etc.. its a bill in excess of 20K on top of what I have already spent.
The KO4 made more power than the KO3 - no question - but I just couldnt get it too run right - either too lean and pinging or too rich and flooding causing blust fluctuations. I tried more than 6 different programs.
At the time I had it on the car I was flat out at work and doing a lot of kms and just didnt have the time to put into data logging and time off the road waiting for software etc. and the long waits for new software so I made the decision to pull it off and put the ko3 back on - I dont regret the decision - just the money I spent on the ko4 :-)
The KO4 gave a significant torque increase which was nice and I understand from what I have been told the software has now been tweaked and works fine in several othe aussie audis with the same set-up.
But as above - I am all said and done with my car now - its finished. :-) Mod money is now going to another house money :-) And I still love and enjoy driving my car VERY much.
