Default Just test drove a B7 S4 sedan 6mt

I own a 2000 B5 S4, and don't get me wrong, I love it. But the B7 blew my mind. I dunno that it's that much faster than my stock B5 (maybe a bit in a straight line) but the feel of the thing. Tighter more solid, better gearbox etc. blew my mind. The sound, the feel of that V8 had me hooked instantly.

It was a cold night (-8 C) and every time I blipped the throttle, the whole car would shudder, the sound!!! and a nice cloud of exhaust would hide the car behind me :P. I flat out loved the car. I need a cigarette.

You guys are lucky to be driving what you are driving!

P.S. 40:60 quattro was invisible to me, but I never pushed the car too hard in corners considering the cold night and performance rubber.

Default Buy the S4 already!!!

I bought a B7 in December and I just can't get enough of it. I'm just now getting used to the car to the point where I've been testing the capabilities of the 40/60. You're right, it is invisible unless you start pushing the issue. The first time I really felt it was a few days ago when I hit one of those 270 degree freeway on ramps. I shifted into 3rd gear as I was hitting the curve and I was able to fishtail the rear end quite nicely. Two things though, the understeer is still there, yet it's manageable enough to pull stunts like I did without too much trouble. In the 50/50's this would have been impossible. The other thing, be careful and push the car in small doses if you're not already a Pro (which I am not).

Default the difference in solidity is pretty amazing. of course it's a couple hundred lbs heavier, but...

...even comparing it to the B6 S4, the B7 felt more substantial to me.

You should feel it at 120mph...solid as a battleship.

Default Smoothest 120 I have ever experienced.

The first time I got my B7 into the 120-130 range I was utterly amazed and kept looking at the speedometer in disbelief, then I noticed my unused RPM's and realised that pushing it to 150+ would not be a problem.

I can't think of another car I've driven that literally feels the same at 70 or 120, and that's no exaggeration.

Default I don't know how you'd feel any difference between the B6 and B7 considering there are no...

drivetrain diffrences (other than the 60/40 split for the '06's; which is negligiblely noticeable at best). The weight is the same, too. Other than the grill and honda tailights there isn't a difference.

Default The modern C-class is quieter and smoother at Autobahn speeds. Of course, it lacks the performance

of the S cars though.
