Default Pics of the Vid camera mount I made

After about 4 hours of work I finally finished my camera mount. It enables a video camera to be mounted off the passenger seat headrest. It was made out of some kind of hinge I found at the hardware store, four piece of plastic wire protectors for putting wiring into a house and a small ball mount head for camera mount. Also some duct tape as I could find no other way to connect the plastic to the metal where the headrest bars go through the mount. I tried super glue and some other adhesive.. no way.. Tape works great, but look like a$$ I know.. Oh well does the job.. I will let you all know how the vid quality turns out. It doesnt seem to move any more than the seat itself so it should be ok.. at least as good as the vid I posted last week for my exhaust.. Anyways here are the pics.

Duct tape on a $50,000 car. Makes sense to me. If you like an abomination.

Default My version on a B6

Used a old tripod top and drilled out the holes after putting a wood dowl inside for added strength. Problem was the plastic rings that allow for tilt were brittle and broke after a few track events.

2nd version used a 2x2x12 piece of popular drilled out, rounded edges and painted black with the tripod top inserted in an end, much more stable. If I could find the camera mount piece you have, looked in local camera shops, nothing, that would be my version 3 and need no further modification. Cost is only a few Dollars.

Its good that some of us use our ingenuity and not just go out and spend $$$ on available mounts

Default ok retard.. check out all the pics and you will see the tape is not on the car but on the mount

and then it is painted over.. the tape is actually on the plastic which touches the headrest posts not the tape. sorry for the retard comment, but dont see how you could not see how it works from the pictures

Default LOL...looking at your engineering skills, I am the retard? Sigh.

To post pics like that and NOT expect negative commentary is a little naive. If you can't take it, don't post.

I guess I should have posted "GEE, that's the coolest idea EVER" or something like that, just to feed your ego, which is what you expected.

Thank you please drive through.

Default not really looking for an ego boost. Was looking to share the idea

I honestly dont care how it looks but more so how it works. I goes on easily and comes off easily and holds the camera stady through whatever the car is doing.. even racetrack situations. does everything practical have to be pretty? I dont think so and for the money I wanted to spend to make this, ie none, I thinik it turned out pretty well. Thanks for your comments though. I am always happy to hear any ideas on how to improve the idea. Particualrly how you would hold four pieced of plastic to a flat piece of metal. Thanks again.

Default I made something similar in the past with 1" aluminum square tubing

Also coming out from the passenger seat. But on the road course it just vibrates too much and the picture isn't still. This is even with a good Sony camcorder with the anti-vibration stuff on it. What I found that works better, if you don't want to put a cage in and mount it on there, is to make the support bar go across and attached to the driver headrest as well. That way there's a lot less vibration.

What I also did was a c-pillar bar up above the rear seats. That way I could use a wider angle view that was zoomed in a little bit for a better picture when viewing it later. FYI, both the above statement and this were done on an Integra that I had back in the day.
