Default Navigation in 2006

I ordered a 2006 A4 3.2, without navigation because I did not like the unit in the 2005 demo I drove. The dialing to input addresses, etc. seemed rather archaic after demo driving an Acura TL with nav that was very user friendly.

Does anyone know if the 2006 cars with Nav use the same exact functionality as the 2005 or have there been improvements? I might decide to add it afterall.

Best Navs are Lexus and Acura - but we drive Audis for other reasons

Default You're absolutely correct...that's why I am buying an Audi instead of an Acura.

The Audi is much more of a driver's car.

Default Personally I love the way my Nav works.

I actually like the presentation on the Audi Nav MUCH better than on the Acura or Lexus.
It has more of a "cartoon" look to it and less computer.
I love the fact that there is a red pin that shows your top destinations and there is even a shadow of it on the map..too cool!!
I love the screen that flips down and the fact that I DON'T HAVE TO USE THE SCREEN TO USE THE A/C CONTROLS!!!!!

I test drove the Acura TL with Nav... I couldn't understand anything I said... THAT was frustrating

Default I rememeber reading someplace that Acura's Nav has something like 2 million waypoints versus

Audi, BMW, + MB which each have around 500,000.

Not sure how true this is.

Default So I know that the next thing will be hard drives for cars - so that the Nav can be updated

via - cell, sat, or usb ports.

I'm hoping to land a job with a company looking into this route

Default actually updating nav data is as easy as changing a DVD, literally.

New dvd's are released periodically with updated maps, routes, POI's, etc.

Default but they are expensive and many are several years behind

besides if updates could be handled quicker and new data entered - like the latest location of Starbucks or Qdoba ..... what a neat deal
