How long does tinting take? (and other q's about it)
(by the way, I'm probably thinking to get 25% tint all-around or the maximum legal level)
1) How long does the process generally take?
2) Do things in my car have to be disassembled/removed/etc. for this to happen?
3) My interior is light: do I risk getting it dirty?
4) What should I look for & what questions should I ask?
Thanks in advance!
I used to tint windows in a high-end shop, asking about what kind of film is important... your best bet is to talk to some locals with nice cars that had theirs done... REALLY inspect the job that was done - make sure all the corners were rounded and that when the doors are closed there aren't any light lines (spaces around the edges) look for any dust that may have been trapped under the film (indicated poor prep work) and the obvious, look for air bubbles - there shouldn't be ANY.
As for the time - they're going to need your car for a few hours. Door pannels may have to come off. I'd put some absorbent sheets/towels down to protect your interior and perhaps across the rear deck too. The glue on the tint is activated using a spray-on solution of soapy water - and a lot of it!!!
I've had my car for two months and have yet to have it done - i'm still in the paranoid phase. I refuse to leave my car unattended. I still park away from EVERYONE no matter where I go!
Hope all works out well for ya Henry.
