The A3 may be an exception.
One of the iPod i/f ads from Audi says something like "Compatible with cars that don't have satellite radio (except A3)." My wording may sound weird, but the advertisement was just as bad, leaving a lot of people wondering whether the gadget a) won't work in an A3, or b) works in A3s even with satellite.

It just seems odd that Audi would release an iPod "integration kit" that wouldnt work in alot of cars. When I was test driving B7's almost every car on the lot had Sat.

I hope you have heard correctly, my dealer doesnt have a clue on how the ipod connector will work, since they haven't seen it yet. I want to get rid of the cassete tape adapter but not at the cost of losing my XM!

Its if the cars can work with it. The radios between the A4 and the A3 should be identical.. If you can have a changer and sat in your car then you can have an ipod and sat. Basically the Sat info enters the headunit under an entirely different means.
If you press Sat it goes to sat.. If you press CD it goes to the indash..If you have a changer or ipod and you hit it again then it goes to CDC for cd changer (or ipod if no changer but it thinks that its a CD changer.

If that the case why does all the audi documentation say the Audi iPod Integration Kit will NOT work with Sat Radio???

I have no idea why it says it.. but we tested it and it works on the A3
The radio should be the same between the B7 A4 and the A3 which would meani t has all the same inputs. So even if its not currently hooked up you may simply just have to add the wires to the back of the radio and it would work.
But thats not even like Audi since its just cheaper to build every car with every wire just not put the module in. If you can put sat in your car OR you can put a changer in your car you can put both in your car since the radio sees them as two inputs..
Just because someone in marketing says it won't work doesn't mean its true if people actualy try it and prove it can be done.
