Default just turn the key and hold it

the car will roll the windows up or down if u put in the key and turn it, and then hold it for a couple of seconds and it will automatically roll down or up

Aware of this but nicer to do it via the remote while you're walking to the car on a hot summer day

Default Only thing I don't like about the remote window roll-down....

Is when you park your car somewhere and you come back and it's dusty or has dust on it. You go and hit the remote windows down and then a layer or dust collects at the top of your door panel. You get into the car and close the door shut and the vibration causes the dust sitting there to fly all over the place inside & outside of the car. Mainly because of this reason, I never like to use the remote window down.

However, on a hot day and if you have little to no dust on your car, sure it's a nice feature to have. Same with leaving the car and you can roll the windows up but for me personally, I'm always used to just tapping the 1-touch window buttons on the doors before I shut the car off so no need to use the remote. That, and sometimes it can be finiky when you press & hold the button, where it works most of the time but sometimes (rarely, but still happens) you need to press it hard and you see the windows sometimes pause when going up or down only because it's not getting the full signal from the remote.

Just my $.02 on this mod

Default Well if it's dusty then don't roll it down!

But I hear you .... car's parked out in the middle of a gravel road covered in dust, opening the window is the last thing I would want to do.

Default It was a condtion of my PDI, but the dealer would not do it.

The dealer programmed my key for my 2002 A4, so of course I wanted it done for my 2006, but he said Audi forbids dealers from doing this, since pinch-protection is not enabled with this feature. If you are walking away from the car and holding the key button to roll the windows up (while not watching), you dog in the back seat will be decapitated.

If you are rolling up the windows with the key in the door, they assume you are facing the car and can see the dog's head.

However, this feature on my 2002 A4 required me to be within 10 feet of the car, much closer than the distance to have the lock/unlock work.

My 1999 Maxima could operate the windows from about 200 feet away.

Default Service told me they can't do it...

it seems since it ties together rolling the wndows up on the key (which also apparently disables the anti-pinch mechanism) they can't unlock the rolling down part. VAG-COM I guess. If I recall my BMW would roll down on the key but not up on the key which I guess meant it was no problem.
