Just spoke with Hoppen, MTM, and they were able to confirm B7 is making more power...

They were very familar with the fact that the B7 is making quite a bit more hp than the 200hp that AoA claims. Good to see, but it will require us to scrutinize the programming more so than ever since applying generic correction factors like "1.25 or 1.33" will know longer apply here. We will really need to see baseling and performance dyno runs from each manufacturer to know what they are making or else we really need to keep in mind the car is making about 220 crank hp, and view the gains on top of that accordingly.

This iformation isnt surprising since we have this data...

Quattro B7

APR making 185whp on 93 octane STOCK
REVO dynoing 172whp on 91 octane STOCK
Indpendent persom dynoing 179whp on 91 octane STOCK
Me dynoing 177whp on 93 octane STOCK

This puts a 220chp estimate on the B7 A4 as conservative.

as usual, nice work mike. Now i have been holding off on chipping ....

for this exact reason. Any info on the kind of numbers mtm expects to get from their software and when this would be available. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Sound like Audi ...

sand-bagging their numbers even more than before in order to ensure that no one can claim that car makes less HP than it was advertised even on crappy gas.
Apparently TUV standardization is much tighter than US specs.

That or they don't want the hp rating too close to their V6.

I think with the new hp rating, doesn't the "200hp" equal to 197hp now?

They rate it at 250hp with just chip which should really be about 270hp with just chip...

Since their way of advertising hp is to look at what the programming makes than lop about 5-10% off of that. Such as my last programming that was advertised to make 255tq but acually put down 260tq TO THE WHEELS much less their crank estimate. I'll be able to tell you for sure next month at a dyno shop that is actully an APR distributor so as to put to rest any type of thoughts the runs would be manipulated. I'll also run 3rd and 4th gears and all on pump fuel with no added cooling except shop fans. cheers! Mike
