Just got a new '06 2.0T Quattro! Alot of questions...

Just leased a new '06 2.0T quattro, ocean pearl blue effect, cold weather package, premium package, sunroof package, 17" all winter tire/rims, automatic/tiptronic.

Now time for the questions..

Does AWD (Quattro)mean I take it up to the snow, do I need snow chains still?

Where and how exactly does chipping work? I live in the Bay Area and where is the best place to get it installed? Is it reversible if I need to return the lease.

Last, where can I get a lip spoiler, and side flares (I assume that's what you call it) for the side doors?

Well snow chains are illegal in most areas. They really aren't needed unless you are running performance tires or something.

Chipping works by advancing the timing and increasing the boost of the turbo. It's called remapping. With APR they can reflash the ECU back to the stock program for you.

ECS tuning sells all the body parts you need.

You can get lip spoiler and side flares from your dealer. Sometimes cheaper than online companies.

You said you have all-winter tires, I assume you mean stock all-season tires

All-season tires such as the Pirelli P6 are not meant for snow. You need proper snow tires, so get a set of 215/55/16 snow tires on new 16 inch wheels.

You have to consider the lack of ground clearance on the A4 for deep snow.

Same rules as other four wheel drive vehicles in snow. I never have been forced to put them on in chain control areas. Last year in Tahoe they were making everyone with two wheel drive chain up, but just waived me through.

Not sure that 16 inch wheels will clear the front brakes.

I believe a 17 inch is a minimum.

Congrats on the purchase first of all.

As for needing snow chains, I'm not to sure. But I'll find out when I head up to Tahoe this December

Regarding on where to have the car "chipped", I had mine done at <a href="http://www.streetwerke.com/">Streetwerke</a> (They are in Palo Alto).

Let me know if you need any other info.
