Default Calling all chipped cars and B7 tuners...

It seems there will be a few options out there now. Plenty of local drag strips have a test and tune night where for $10 to $20 you can drive your car on the 1/4 mile. It is only as abusive to the car as you decide to make it. I actually do my runs starting at only 2000rpm as I just bog when I try and do good launches. If we could start getting some times on the programming options out there it would be great. We have a baseline so let's see what these things can do!!! Please see the B7 timeslip database for instructions on how to submit your timeslips. cheers! Mike

Default I'll put it up there as soon as I get my Revo software

Hopefully it'll get as big as your B6 list

Default Answered my own question about Dahlback

Here's the link, numbers look pretty weak I was expecting more from them.

Default I wouldnt worry about advertised numbers at all...

It will be the baseline and modified dyno runs to look out for. If you use a lowly 200chp to correct you will see that the APR car supposedly only puts out 231chp, but since we know the car is probably putting out closer to 220chp, their advertised 241chp makes sense even though it is advertised differently. Some manufacturers may correct using the 200chp mark as a baseline comparison and in that case they will underestimate their numbers instead of possibly overestimating. Not saying DBack will be good or not but no way to tell from advertising. I've dynod 25 more hp and 50 more tq than advertised to me before so that can be common with some companies. cheers! Mike

Default Of course a dealer will be able to detect any chip. That has always been and always will be...

They are the ones who deal with Audi who designed the darn code itself. It's just a matter of how hard the dealer wants to look. The files from all tuners are different in size and in code. No getting around that but there are some neat ways to at least put a disguise on it. Only way to be completely safe is to have the car reflashed back to TRUE stock before going in for a big repair. cheers! Mike

Default Well, if I wanted to sell something to people who are all under warranty i'd say that too...

but check the B6 forum. Nothing is undetectable even though people have claimed it since the beginning of flashing. What they do have is some truly neat ways of at least making it hard to detect. The only problem with this is it can give the customer a very false sense of security since the dealer is really not going to be looking for the chip on a routing mantenance. So the customer says, "I was in for my 5K service and they didnt find it, must be invisible." Try bringing the car in for a tranny replacement at 5K miles and see if they can find it. cheers! Mike
