Default Need help for HALOGEN to XENON conversion.

<center><img src="http://i24.ebayimg.com/03/i/08/a5/be/47_1.JPG"></center><p>After a year of wishing my 2006 A4 2.0T had Xenon headlamps,I finally got a hold of some on www.ebay.de. I also found a cable harness adapter for converting from halogen to xenon.

So, I reckon I have everything to put in the new lights. I was planning on taking pictures and doing a write up of the mod since no one seems to have done that.

I need help with the wiring though. The harness I bought plugs into the old harness and new projector housings except each one has a black and white wire comming off of them.

The only directions that came with the harness are these:
"Left: from pin brew 11 white line to the controller 11 pole (plug D) in pin 6 (Bi-Xenon) frompin 12 black olineto thte controller 11 pole brew (plug D) in pin 3 (daily headlight) Right: of pin 11 white line to thecontroller 11 pole black (plug A) in pin 5 (Bi-Xenon) from pin 12black line to steugeraet 11 pole black (plug A) in pin 3 (daily headlight)"

Can anyone make any sense of that?

Where are the plugs D and A that the directions are referring to? Are they part of the old harness?

Wish I could help, but I'd really like to see your write-up when finished.

Default Those wires are for operation of the Bi-xenon high beam and DRLs

Just off the top of my head (please verify). They need to be routed to the electrical control module which is located underneath the steering wheel and tapped into the 23 pin black connector.

If you would like I can email you the wiring diagrams. Also, I think you will need VAG-COM to recode the car for xenon lights.

Keep us posted. I am considering the same mod.

Good luck

<center><img src="http://lh5.google.com/image/cameroncturner/RaS7cffMxsE/AAAAAAAAAEs/gNlXEuCllWE/AudiHalogenToXenon"></center><p>Ah, yes, that sounds like the place possibly. I emailed the german guy who sold the adapter to me though and he replied by telling me "Hi! The plugs look at the Bordnetz Steuerger?t."

Translated on www.freetranslation.com, Bordnetz Steuerger?t means "board network tax device." Seems close in meaning to "electrical control module."

If you could please send the wiring diagrams for there, I would appreciate it greatly. According to the directions, the white and black wires need to go to controller 11(Plug D and A) in pin 6, and pin 3.

As far as VAG COMing the car, won't that cause problems since my car came with halogens? I would think the absence of the self leveling and turning control devices would throw codes and pop up on the MFD. Maybe I'm wrong. It would be nice to have the self leveling ability in the lights.<ul><li><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/cameroncturner/AudiHalogenToXenon">Here's some more pictures of what I'm dealing with.</a></li></ul>

I agree on the coding issue. But I think you will get a high-beam-bulb-out fault when coded for halogen lights anyway.

I think there may be a code for xenon lights, non adaptive that may be the preferred setting.

Still waiting on my parts, so I am not much help.

Check your mail.

Default Ok, Here's where I'm at with the wiring so far. When I finally figure it out, I'll post a tutorial

Dave,
Thank you very much for the wiring diagrams. I've been looking at them quite a bit, starting with identifying the wires in my current halogen light harnesses. I have found that Male part of the Adapter harness (going into the car's control panel) only has connections for Pin 9(turn signal), Pin 7(ground) Pin 5(ground), pin10(parking lamp) and pin 6(Low Beam). On the Female Side of the harness (going into the Xenon Projector) the black wire in Pin 12 is designated (Daytime Running Light) and the white wire in Pin11 is designated (Bi Xenon Hi/Low beam switch over solenoid). Looking at your wiring diagrams, I have determined that normally, (on the left side) these wires would go into the J519 Controller on the T32Connector (white line into Pin 21) andT23 Connector (black line into Pin 18).

The seller of the halogen to xenon conversion harness sent me some directions that I'm sure you saw in my post. With the wiring diagrams, I figured it would be easy to identify where the white and black wires would go but now I am stumped. The directions with the harness specify that the left side wires go to Plugs D and right side go to plug A on Controller 11. Do you currently have the wiring diagram for the J519Control Module? I think if I look at that diagram, I may be better able to determine if there is such a thing as Plugs D and A on it. Also, I am wondering if a Controller 11 exists, or if that's just a mistake on the part of the seller. I look forward to you getting all your parts so we can work together to get these lights installed.
