Water from windshield goes into battery compartment?

Water from windshield goes into battery compartment?
On the B7, is there no water channel or deflector that deflects the water coming down from the windshield off to the sides? I noticed water on the battery and all around on. There is just the black plastic grid at the bottom of the windshield and no deflector or further shield, water can just go straight in. I know there are supposed to be drain holes under the battery, but wouldn't you just want to keep water out of the battery compartment area period?
